Ummm....I give up!

Well I'm not quite sure how everyone else in the world seems to be sooo much better than me at keepin their blog up-to-date, but I'm super jealous of all y'all! Here's another mega load of pics and details of our life here in Farmington. I'm just gonna stop apologizing for these mass updates and just let you expect that I'll only really do this about once a month! So There! That'll show ya right?!? Now down to business!

We went to Thanksgiving Pointe and Saw Santa and his Reindeer and drove through the lights, the girls that it was sooo fun to see his actually Reindeer, however upset they were that Rudolph was not there cuz they didn't have a Red Nose, they had fun guessing which ones were there..."It's Dancer and Dickson Mom" Dylan would say, Devyn thought it was "Pancer and Dancer!"

Here are the Halloween Pictures I've been promissing since, well ummm...Halloween! Dylan was a Souther Bell and Devy was a scarecrow, they had a blast trick-or-treating and kept going even when it started raining!

Here is one of the Reindeer!

Here we were decorating our Gingerbread house and my girls after decorating the tree holding our poor lil mut Heirmosa!

Here's Mike gettting ready to fry our Turkey! He injected it with cajun/crole spices and it was soooooo juicy and yummy! Our first year frying a Turkey and I think we'll do it again! Mmm!

Here are all the grandkids at "The Compound!" watching the train run around the tree! My mom hates it when I call it The Compound, but I think it's funny! Mike came up with it. My Mom is living with her Mom (aka Grammy) and her Brother (Uncle Jeff) and my Dads sister (Aunt Susan) in this house in Layton. It's a great lil get up for all of them but we like to tease them about it!
So there ya have it....a nice lil recap of Oct/Nov/Dec all in one post! Hope you all enjoy it and thanks for being inspiring to make mine a lil better...one day I'll get around to it I promise :-)
Peace, Love and Joy this Holiday Season!

Early For November!

Ok...so I know already that this month is turning out to be absolutely INSANE! So...I'm going to post early! Halloween was fun (I'll post pics as soon as I upload them) the girls had a blast! Devy was a lil scarecrow and Dylan was a Souther Belle. They loved trick-or-treating...even when it started raining.

I've started teaching Dance at Studio 1 in Farmington on Thursday nights. WOW...what a workout. Those girls have soo much energy I can't even fathom ever being like that! I teach 3 classes in a row so I'm going straight for 3 hours. By the end my body hurst in places it forgot was ever there, my voice is almost gone from counting a cueing, and I'm on a total high from having soo much fun and feeling 12 again! I can't wait for the recital to see it all manifest!

On Wednesday nights I'm taking an adult Spanish class. This is the second session and Senorita Mendoza calls it the "Advanced Class" I'm not as confident as she is! She only speaks in Spanish the whole hour I'm there. The first session we were allowed to reply in English...for the "Advanced Class" we can only speak Spanish....AHHHH!!! It's fun to learn a new thing and try to practice it with my brother Jarum the few times a month I've seen him!

Speakin of Jarum...he and Brooke just blessed baby Chase this last Sunday! What a cute lil bud he is! I've only seen 3 boy babies...and he is by far the cutest one I've seen! He's got the wrinkly forehead my dad has and he grunts and snorts when he's unhappy, which he hardley ever is when I see him!

We've attended 2 family picture sessions. One for the Carlsons and one for the Stones. Let me just tell you...I HATE family pics! The stress of getting the girls to look cute and happy and hold still for the pic is quite a process. One that ensues clapping, jumping up and down, making crazy noises and faces. I'm sure it's a ploy from our kids "lets see who can get mom to look like a crazy lady!" Gotta love it!

That's good for now...I promise to get pics of Halloween and our new Family pics up as soon as I can!

Love, Peace and Happiness to all!

Missed a Month!

September FLEW by this year! With Dylan in school everyday, working at Lonestar on Tuesday nights, Spanish class on Weds nights and the rest of life somewhere in between it's gotten crazy!
This month we had a surprise visitor in our backyard. Devy was out back playing with Mosa when she came in crying and bleeding on her finger. She kept saying "Unk bite me, Unk bite me!" Since I didn't know what "unk" was I kept pointing to things...dog, bug, bee, wood and she just kept telling me it was "unk"! I cleaned her up, bandaged the bite and had her come outside with me to show me where this "unk" bit her. She lifted up the BBQ cover and I saw a black tail scurry up inside the BBQ. At this point I knew what it was...with the news about the Mink farm being broken into by Animal Rights Activists, and all the minks they let loose, my neighbor had had one in his backyard the day before.
So I ran into the house to grab the camera and came out to see if I could get a pic! AFter I got a pic I called Mike to see if he thought I should take her to get a rabies shot and he called Animal Control. Animal Control was on their way and they said that since these lil buggers were born and raised in a cage, fed antibiotics they weren't worried about rabies, they just said to keep an eye on it and look for infection.

Well Oct 5 Mike and I hit 7 years! Woo Hoo! He tooke me out to Paris Bistro for a delicious dinner of Escargo, Duck, Steak, and cheese! We then me up with Shane and Jill Sparks and Wade to go clubing!

The next day we were off to Lava Hot Springs to swim in hot pools and play some Lotto! The house we rented had it's own Hot Tub so Jill and I sat out there under the stars while the boys layed on the couch and watched the boob-tube! That night I woke up at about 4am and saw a ghost sitting in the chair next to the bed....AHHHH! Then I made the mistake of telling everyone in the morning and I'm sure I won't live that down for a LONG time! Oh well...I saw what I saw!
Yesterday the girls and I went to the Pumkin Patch with Sophie and Anna! They ran through a hay bale maze, and eached picked a pumkin to take home. We came home and colored the pumpkins with markers and stuck flowers in them! How much fun!

Pics!

Devyn with Goofy Teeth in!
Dylan in Park City at Park Silly...the Farmers Market. They have fun kids activities like this HUGE canvas on the ground that kids can paint on! We just bought that headband and she insisted on wearing like a bandana...my little trend setter!Devy painting away!
Here's Dylan with Hanna Scott, Maddie Stott and Eliza Roylance in front of the school waiting for their teacher to come out! This is just 4 out of the 10 kids, from our neighborhood alone, going into Kindergarten this year! Only 2 of the 10 are boys! Watchout!

Here's my little bookworm, falling asleep reading! I'm so proud! Thanks to Uncle Wade, who bought Dylan a 5 book series The Adventures of Captain Underpants, we read them all in a month! Dylan couldn't get enough of them!

We finally got to go on Front Runner! The girls have been buggin' us all Summer long. "When do we get to go on the train?" So here's Daddy and Dylan!
Here's Mama and Devyn, look at how excited their faces are! They LOVED it!
Here's the first day of school! Sophie Edgley, Dylan and Maddie Stott! All big girls with their backpacks on!
Here we are the school waiting for their teachers to come out! They were sooo excited they had to take a peak into the school! The blonde w/o a backpack is Anna Edgley, then Eliza Roylance, Dylan, Maddie Stott, Hannah Scott and Devyn!
Here is a video of Dylan getting her ears pierced! First side and Second side. Notice that she stopped crying as soon as she got to look in the mirror! :-)

Peace ya'll!

Once a month?

Ok, so it's turning out that I'm getting on here to update once a month...not bad, not great! Yoga is going good! I just finished my 6 weeks with the Women of Safe Harbor and I was sad to leave them :-( It is my hope that my journey will take me across their paths maney times over! I am so grateful that they opened their doors and arms for me to come in and practice what I've learned!

Yummy Yoga is hitting a new wave! I've backed off mondays until after school starts! So I'm just teaching Saturdays for the rest of the month! I'm so grateful to Jean Taylor of Studio 1 for allowing me to use her beautiful facility! It's huge and beautiful! This is definately a learning experience! Check out Jean's website www.JTStudio1.com

Dylan is counting down the days until she gets to go to Kindergarten! We went on the train, last friday, into Gateway and the girls LOVED it! While we were there we got Dylan's ears pierced. It was really cute to watch her. The first ear she was fill with excitment and anticipation, after it was pierced she cried at the shock and pain. Then she steadily got ready for the second ear with courage and hesitation, squeezing daddy's hand super tight! She cried a little after that second one too until they gave her a mirror to admire her new addition. The rest of the day, anyone we passes she would shout out "I got my ears pierced today!" She was beaming!

Devyn is growing an inch a day (I swear!) Today she pulled on some of Dylan's shorts for fun...and they fit her! Aaaagh! My little Devy is turning into a big kid. Her sentences are getting longer, she's counting and singing and wanting to play with friends all the time. It's unbelievable!

Mike got his eyes lasered! No more glasses for Daddy! It's still a little wierd to see him. I keep wanting to remind him to get them on before he leaves for work in the moring! After work he's been super busy putting up a pergola in our back yard! We're one short step away from finishing! What an interesting summer project it's turned out to be!

Mega Update!

So it's been a while since I've updated my blog...so my apologies to all of my frequent viewers! Here's a Mega Huge Update of what's been going on lately!

First, I just want to say that I've halfway completed one of my Life's Goals! I ran a Half Marathon Saturday July 12th in a little over 2 hours! Without the goal to run a marathon there's NO WAY I would have ever run the half marathon. 13.1 Miles down!

This is my cute family at my house watching fireworks on the 4th. From my driveway we could see Lagoon's, Davis's, and Clearfields fireworks...what a show!

This summer we had a backyard campout. We put up the tent, roasted marshmellows and forgot to turn off the sprinklers...so we woke up semi-wet! All in all, we had a BLAST!

Jill, Krystal and I going out to Celebrate Krystal and Mike's Birthdays! This was the same day as Jill and My Half Marathon...and we're still going! :-)

Day before July 4th we went to My Mom and Dad's house for a BBQ. All the Grandkids eating Icecream Sandwiches with Grandpa Brad!

Fathers Day we went to Liberty Park! Listened to the Hippies in their drum circle, ran through the fountains, fed the ducks, and played at the park...Doesn't get better than that!

Happy Birthday Dylan

Princess Shoes at the Party

Princess Devyn and Princess Dylan with Princess Cinderella!

Benihana

Her Rainbow cake

My little Graduate!

The Fam!

Well this has been a BIG week for Dylan! May 16 she turned 5! For Dinner we went to Benihana, she LOVES to see them throwing food, then Sunday we had a family BBQ and yesterday she Graduated from Preschool and Cinderella came to her friend party! It was all a little crazy, but fun!

Dylan is so big now, I can't believe that I've been a Mom for 5 years now. She's a mini Mike, so I've learned A LOT of patience to say the least. She LOVES to tease and hates to be teased. Dylan wants to make a game out of everything, she helps me remember to take life a little more light hearted. Dylan is also a social butterfly, she is friends with EVERYONE! She doesn't discriminate by gender or age. She'll go to Sophie's house and if she isn't home, she'll play with her 3 year old sister Anna and have a ball.

Dylan can be very selfless...she wants to make sure everyone gets a drink, toy, candy, whatever she's having at the moment. She'll remind me..."oh mom, don't forget to save one for so and so!" If we're playing a game she'll whisper in my ear "mom, so and so hasn't had a turn yet...let them go!" I have a lot to learn from her still, I'm very happy and proud to be her Mama! I Love you Dylee Dal, happy birthday!

My First Race

Here's me and Jill at the Big Boss Man's house after the Race!
Aren't we the hottest Mama's you've ever seen?

Well I ran my very first race this weekend. I ran the 5k at Odgen Marathon May 17. It was so fun! I went with Jill Sparks and we kicked some serious butt! We started pretty close to last in line and we passed A LOT of people!

My official time was 00:27:24 I came in 66th out of 501 in the girls division,so I'm perty dern proud of myself! It was an amazing experience running across the finish line. Knowing that I've been training hard and to finally acomplish something. I know it's a stupid 5k and it was only 3.11 miles, but still, it was a start!
Here's the link...I'm on the first page of results for females in the 5k!

I still have a 10k, a half marathon and a full marathon to run. I didn't get into the St. George Marathon :-( so I have to find another one to run! Wish me happy runnings!

Catch-up!

Dylan crouched and ready for the ball with her pink mitt!

Posing for pictures before her first game! 65 Degrees outside Brrrr!

Dylan taking Devyn to the bases after her game! What a good sister!

Katie and Ricki Rian! Happy Birthday Ricki!

Wade and Shane helping Mike with the Auger (sp?)

Ok, so it's been awhile again since I've blogged and sooo much has been going on. I feel like I'm skipping out on so much info by adding all this information in one post, but what's a busy mom to do? Multi-tasking is a necessity for our breed so....once again here I go with a parade of our lives from the last couple of weeks!

Baby Ricki came into the world Weds April 30 in the AM hours! She is absolutely, amazingly beautiful! She has a head of hair on her that is to be envied by all new moms! On top of that, she wears it in a faux-hawk just like her cool aunt Jennie! She's a healthy lil angel, doing well. Katie has made a very smooth transition into motherhood, I'm so proud of her! I'm excited to get to share mom-moments with her, and get my "baby-fix" holding her sweet little thing! Congrats Katie!

Dylan has been having a BLAST at T-Ball! Our team is the Oriels and we're BRIGHT ORANGE! It's hard to miss us. Dylan has quite a few buddies from the neighborhood on her team....Sophie Drayer, Hannah Scott, Alex Carter, and Marin Boss are all from our lil corner in Farmington.

This last week she actually hit a ball from her coach (they pitch 3 balls to them and if they don't make contact then they get the T)! We couldn't believe it! The next inning a kid hit a ball right into her glove! It took her totally by surprise as she stared at that ball in her glove like "how did that get there?" then she woke up and threw it to 1st base! What a blast to see her out there having fun! I can't believe how BIG she is all of a sudden!

Backyard saga continues! We rented an Auger (sp?) to drill big 'ol holes in our backyard for our deck posts and pergola (sp?) posts. Now we made sure and called Blue Stakes so we wouldn't hit any wires and fry our brains, unfortunately, they don't stake off our sprinkler pipes. Needless to say 3 out of 5 holes we hit pipes and 1 of those 3 was the main water line! AHHHHHH! Mike got it all fixed up and now we have big 'ol holes in our back yard waiting for posts and cement. One step at a time I guess, we'll get there eventually!

YogaFit!

I did it, I did it, I did it! I finished my Level 1 YogaFit Seminar. I'm not officially certified until I Community Teach 8 hours. I'm still trying to decide where I'm going to do that. I'm leaning toward the Womens Shelter in Kaysville! Any other ideas for me if that doesn't pan out?

I gotta tell you how absolutly AMAZING this weekend has been for me! It could quite possibly be the most UPLIFTING and EMPOWERING thing I have EVER done for myself. I know it was a Yoga workshop, but...I learned soooo much about myself, something that yoga is all about.

The very first thing that came out of Nicolles mouth (she was the instructor) was..."You are all here, in this moment for a reason, lets all Listen to our bodies and let go of all Competition, Judgement, and Expectations of ourselves and others and just be Present in the Moment!" How beautiful is that? Come to find out that's the Essence of YoaFit and we talked about that over and over and over again.

How Empowering is that? Think about it for a minute. Let's break it down. Listen to your body and let go of any competition you feel with you neighbor, sister, mother, magazine model etc. We don't have to be anything for anybody but ourselves, we're perfect just the way we are. Nobody can do you better than you can!

Next, Listen to you body and let go of competition. Life is not a Desination...it's a Journey! What are we racing for? Who are we racing? Let go...and LIVE IN THE PRESENT MOMENT! There's NO greater gift you can give yourself!

And last, Listen to your body and let go of Expectations. Live based on how you feel right here and now! Don't expect yourself to do EVERYTHING ALL OF THE TIME! Allow yourself to be human and recognize those moments. Those moments are part of who we are. Learning to listen and live in the Present Moment allows you to live minute by minute and take things as they come and appreciate them for what they are...part of your journey!

Now I could go on, and on, and on, and ON about all of this and not even come close to what I learned about in 2 short days! All of these things and more are pulled from the Workbook, from my own personal experience and from what was shared in class by the other amazing women (and Mark, the Token Guy), I shared that opportunity with!

I hope to take these things to heart and apply them, not only on my yoga mat, but in my life. I'm excited and eager to start teaching these concepts with others and I hope to continue my education of Yoga to the next level!

Hugs, Love <3 and Peace!
Jennie Carlson YogaFit Level 1 Instructor (almost!) :-)

Ok, A LOT has been going on the last couple of weeks, hence the lack in posts! So, I'm going to just lay it all out here in this one post! Ready...Set...Go!

I'm up to running 7 Miles! Woo Hoo! I'm pretty sure that if Jill hadn't started running with me I would have quit, but she's been a great motivator! We're running 3x a week with the kids in strollers! Hoo YAH! We're super-moms! Our time is cut almost in half when we go solo, but we enjoy the thought of extra calorie burn. I read in Fitness Magazine last month that pushing a strollers boots calorie burn 20% Oh YA baby!

To go with the running theme, we registered for the Ogden 5k May 17 and we'll be pushing the children for that one! We're looking into the Farmington Half Marathon in July, and we've registered for the St. George Marathon Oct. 4. We will find out the first week of May if we were accepted since the race is a lottery and they only accept 7000 people.

Speaking of Lotteries...we entered Dylan into the Spanish Immersion program at Eagle Bay and she got in! So she's going to be speaking Spanish 1/2 her day from Kindergarten to 6th grade! She's sooo excited! We went to Orientation Friday and she met her teacher and played on the playround, she asks everyday when she gets to go to Kindergarten!

Devyn is growing up so fast I can't believe it. She knows most of her colors, shapes, and is starting to count..."One...Two...Six...Three...GO!" is what she says. She's become a little singer. She just sings and sings and sings where ever she goes, and it drives Dylan NUTS! :-)

I've been doing Boot Camp for 4 weeks and feeling stronger and stronger all the time. I'm starting to see definition return to my arms and legs! :-) If I get 2 people to join with me I'll get the next one half off...so I'm recruiting! Anyone interested? http://www.fitcorefit.com/ I absolutely LOVE it!

While Mike, Shane and Doug worked in the backyard Sunday to try and allieveate our flooding problem, Jill and I went to the Zoo! The girls just LOVE to see all the animals and trying to make their noises. Devyn was terrified of the giant Elephant Statue..."Scawey" she said and walked wide around him keeping her eyes on him the whole time.

Devy and I did a Mom & Tot class at South Davis Rec Center the last 4 weeks! Devyn is a fish and wants no help from me "I do it Mom, I do it!" Dylan seemed to have fun, I couldn't watch her since I was in the water with Devyn the whole time :-(

Dylan starts T-ball this week so we've been practicing! She only wants to hit the ball, not play catch! We're on a team with the rest of our neighborhood, so she's super excited for her first game Thursday!

Few...that's it for now! Katies in the Hospital Today, so hopefully we'll get to meet baby Ricki today, and I'll have more to blog about then!
